Tips for Success
Even the simplest recipes have some simple tips and tricks you can throw at them that will take them over the top. Here are a few for this dish from yours truly. Happy cooking!
- Be choosy about your Brussels sprouts. Select bright green, large sprouts with firmly intact leaves. It is also beneficial to select sprouts that are about the same size. This will help ensure even cook time.
- Don’t crowd the pan. The sprouts will not caramelize properly if they are stacked on top of one another. Arrange them in a single layer on the baking sheet. Feel free to use two sheets if necessary.
- Start cut side down. Do your best to arrange the Brussels sprouts on the baking sheet cut side down. No need to be too nit-picky, but this will help them brown up perfectly and keep them from drying out.
- Keep it moving. During the baking process, give the Brussels sprouts a stir or two to ensure even cooking.
What to Serve with Bacon Brussels Sprouts
While I see no fault in munching on these tasty Brussels sprouts as they are, this dish is best enjoyed as a side to a delicious entree. Here are some of my favorite ways to serve it.
- Pork. I love serving Brussels sprouts alongside a pork entree. Try my Tender and Juicy Pork Loin Roast Recipe or these Smothered Pork Chops.
- Steak. This heartwarming side goes great with a juicy steak. I have been loving this Oven Grilled Steak recipe as well as this Easy Rib Eye Steak Dinner.
- Turkey. It’s never too early to start thinking about Holiday feats. These roasted Brussels sprouts are the perfect addition to any Turkey-centric smorgasbord. Try them with my Turkey Gravy Recipe with Pan Drippings or this Bacon Wrapped Spatchcock Turkey with Veggies and Gravy.
- Stuffing and other sides. Serve bacon Brussels sprouts along with other festive side dishes. Stuffing is my favorite. Try my Cheesy Italian Sausage Stuffing Recipe. Other delicious sides to serve with roasted Brussels sprouts are Slow Cooker Spiced Cranberry Sauce, Lightened-Up Creamy Green Bean Casserole, and Orange and Pecans Sweet Potato Casserole.
How to Store & Reheat Leftovers
Leftovers? No problem. Allow the Brussels sprouts to cool completely before sealing them in an airtight container and storing them in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. When you are ready to enjoy, arrange the sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F or until heated through. I do not recommend freezing these Brussels sprouts as they will not reheat well.

We love this recipe. Brussel sprouts are a favorite in our home. Steamed, boiled, sauted or baked.
Sounds wonderful, but seems odd that the picture is misleading in that it leads you to believe that the dish is prepared on top of the stove in a skillet 🙂

This sounds great… Do you need to cook the bacon before putting it on the baking sheet? Thank you.
Hi Susan!
No, there’s no need to cook the bacon. In fact, because of the bacon’s juices released during the roasting process, this dish tastes that much better. Everything is better with bacon! 😉
